Vololand Launches High-Performance Domestic Flight Controller ‘NarinFC’
Ulsan—(Newswire)—Vololand has released ‘NarinFC,’ a high-performance domestically produced flight controller.
Vololand, a drone startup based in Ulju County, Ulsan Metropolitan City, is independently developing core drone components such as flight controllers and avionics parts.
Due to possible operational errors by our military, unmanned drones and robots could inadvertently enter enemy territory or be captured during wartime. Flight and mission-related data stored on these devices—including location and route information from the point of departure—could be exploited by enemies for counterattacks, causing significant harm to friendly forces. Therefore, flight-related data is critically important and must never fall into enemy hands.
Although flight data can be deleted via software methods, it remains recoverable through forensic techniques. Vololand’s data destruction technology physically destroys critical memory and chips related to flight and missions by applying high voltage or chemical reactions, rendering data recovery impossible. This technology comprises three methods and has already been patented domestically, with overseas patents pending.
NarinFC is designed to prevent leakage of crucial flight information and securely protect military capabilities, making it an essential technology for military missions. Vololand is developing technologies targeting the defense industry market, starting with military flight controllers.
Besides the flight controller (model name NarinFC), Vololand is developing its own Korean Satellite Positioning System (KPS) module, AI edge computers, and, in collaboration with an RF startup, plans to release next year a 100% domestically produced FPV drone equipped with Korean-made motors and batteries capable of communication over 10 km.
This year, Vololand is operating the K-Drone Delivery Service in Ulju County as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s drone demonstration city project. They have equipped four 25kg-class delivery drones with NarinFC to provide drone delivery services to parks and tourist sites such as Ganwoljae, located at an altitude of 900 meters in Ulju County. During winter, they successfully conducted combat experiments delivering up to 50kg of food supplies with a 150kg-class heavy-lift drone certified for safety to army units isolated by snow in mountainous areas where vehicle access is cut off. This field test verified the performance and stability of NarinFC in real operations. Next year, Vololand plans to participate in the Ministry’s drone commercialization support project and lead the localization of drone parts.
In October, Vololand was selected as the representative Korean drone company to participate in ‘DRONITALY 2024,’ a European drone exhibition, where it promoted key technologies and products including NarinFC, drawing significant attention. NarinFC is scheduled for export in January 2025 to a U.S. drone manufacturer that completed sample validation through AMKOR Aviation Inc., a joint venture established in the U.S. Vololand is currently accepting pre-orders with discounts.
